Easter in Cyprus

This is the most important of the religious festivals in Cyprus and Greece and a lovely time to visit the island. The weather is perfect for sightseeing as it's not too hot and there are lots of events to enjoy.

Yiannis Kotsiras is a Platinum-selling Greek singer and one of the most popular singers in Greece. He will be in concert in Nicosia on 20 and 21 April performing classic Greek songs as well as his own hits.

Born in Athens, he started his career in 1990 singing "rebetika" and "laika" (Greek folk music). Since then he has recorded several bestselling albums and was honoured at the 2003 World Music Awards with the “Best Selling Greek Artist” award.

He also recorded the official song of the Athens 2004 Olympic Torch Relay ‘Pass the Flame’ which was released worldwide and written by British record producer and musician Trevor Horn. Kotsiras has collaborated with many great performers such as Haris Alexiou, Eleftheria Arvanitaki, Dimitris Basis and Dimitris Mitropanos.

This year marks the tenth edition of this event in Limassol from the 20th- 29th April 2012, at the Rialto Theatre and Zena Palace.

The festival will host some of the most groundbreaking films of the year from the international and local cinema scene.

Eleonora Zouganeli

One of the most talented of the new generation of singers will be appearing at Red Music Stage in Nicosia for 2 performances with a selection of Greek music.

Melina Aslanidou is a popular Greek singer and former lead singer of the band “I Apenanti” with whom she had a massive hit single “Ti sou kana kai pineis”. She left the band to go solo and has since released the albums “To perasma” and “Paihnidi Einai”.

She has collaborated and toured with many legendary Greek singers such as George Dalaras, Dimitra Galani and Glykeria.
